When Rep. Denyc Boles received the nod from Marion County commissioners to become the senator for District 10 upon the death of Sen. Jackie Winters, Raquel Moore-Green decided it was time to step out from her supporting role onto the stage. She had managed the last campaign for the previous representative, Commissioner Kevin Cameron, and had been serving as Sen. Winters' office manager during session. Although not the favorite of District 19 PCPs, she convinced the commissioners that she was the best of the candidates.
Rep. Moore-Green has a lengthy record of public activity. Operating her own business, she has been a member of Salem Chamber of Commerce, serving as its Government Day coordinator and First Citizen Event coordinator. She has been a board member of the Salem City Club and a member of SEDCOR. She has served on the City of Salem's budget committee since 2013 as a citizen member representing Ward 3. Being her first foray into elective office campaigns as the principal, she will face voters in 2020.
For the remainder of the 80th Legislative Assembly Raquel will serve on the House Committee on Health Care and the Behavioral Health subcommittee as well as the House Committee on Judiciary.
