Governor Brown has called the legislature into special session. Under the current state of emergency — also the fault of the governor — the Capitol is closed to the public. This makes for quite a dilemma for everybody.
According to media reports in both the Oregonian and Statesman-Journal and confirmed by the list making the rounds on social media, the priority for this session is response to riots and calls for police reform. There could be some legislation codifying some of the Executive Orders that have created much of the authoritarian and economic mess that is Oregon today. Wonderful.
Trouble is, once inside the building and unable to escape, all kinds of mischief can arise. That's where we come in. This rally is our means to keep the legislature accountable. Even if it turns out we will not be allowed inside the building, we will make sure they hear us throughout and for the duration. Get started with us on the Capitol steps, Wednesday morning at 9:00.
