Everyone Loves a Parade

CCRW in Iris ParadeMarion County Republicans put some good feet forward in Keizer's annual Iris Festival parade on Saturday, 21 May. Aside from the usual politicians — including State Sen. Kim Thatcher, State Rep. Bill Post, and Marion County Commissioners Kevin Cameron and Sam Brentano — in their celebrity Corvette convertibles near the front of the procession, Denise Quinn Nanke was spotted with "Gator's Radio Experience" co-host Gator Gaynor in the KYKN-1430AM van.

CCRW cartThe "Best Foot Forward" award, however, goes to the Capitol City Republican Women who walked the entire two mile length of the parade along River Road N. Even the golf cart trailing the women with the banner was a great touch and enabled the two seniors the opportunity to get the good word out about the organization. Marion County Republicans' last entry in the parade was about ten years ago when then-chair John Swanson, walked the route as the GOP elephant. Fortunately for him, that day, like today, was overcast and on the cool side. Still, he couldn't help but get rather warm in that get-up.

Jessica DavidsonWhen she's not diligently working on events and other planning for Marion County Republicans, Jessica Davidson takes time out to be a mom and get involved with community affairs. She volunteered with Magic Wheelchair, passing out information sheets about the non-profit that creates and builds costumes for children and their wheelchairs. They won the Mayor's Trophy.
