Oregon Republican Party Schedules House District 19

Nominating Convention, June 11^th in Salem

Process for Filling Vacancy Announced;

Deadline for Candidates is Friday June 6^th at 5:00 PM

Wilsonville, OR – Oregon Republican Party Chairman Art Robinson announced that the Nominating Convention for House District 19, a seat formerly held by Representative Kevin Cameron (R-Salem), has been set for Wednesday June 11^th at 6:00 PM in the Emitte Room of Schimmel Hall at Corbin University, 5000 Deer Park Drive SE in Salem, using a process determined by Oregon Law and Oregon Republican Party Rules.

“We are going to nominate strong Republican candidates to follow Representative Kevin Cameron’s’ superb public service for the citizens of House District 19,” said Chairman Robinson. 

The Party has until June 20^th 2014 to complete the nomination process. Precinct Committeemen and Committeewomen from House District 19 will meet in Convention to hear from hopeful House candidates and to elect between three and five nominees whose names will be forwarded to the Marion County Commission, where one of them will be appointed to the House seat vacated by Representative Cameron for the eight months remaining in his term.

Republicans who have been registered for at least 180 days, who have lived in House District 19 for at least one year, and are otherwise qualified to serve under Oregon Law may apply to be considered for nomination by filing these three documents with the ORP Office, by 5:00 PM on Friday June 6^th, 2014: 1) Oregon Republican Party HD 19 Candidate Nomination Filing Form, 2) State of Oregon Candidate Filing for Major Political Party (Form SEL 101), and 3) Statement of Nominee’s Willingness to Serve (Form SEL 145).

Candidates who meet the qualifications for nomination will have the opportunity to make an oral presentation at the House District 19 Nominating Convention prior to the vote. The Republican Precinct Committeemen and Committeewomen will vote, according to the number of Registered Republicans in their Precincts, to elect the nominees.
