House District 19 has been busy this year. Reaching all the way back into last year, Denyc Boles was first appointed and then elected outright in November as the State Representative for the rambling district that reaches from South Salem, through Turner, out to Aumsville. When Sen. Jackie Winters passed away in May, Rep. Boles gained the appointment to her seat, which once again opened the House seat. On Monday, 8 July, more the 40 PCPs from around the district convened at Corban University to nominate the individuals to place before the Marion County Commissioners. They will select one of the three to complete the two-year term.
Although this year's session is over, there are still two periods of "Legislative Days" this year as well as the short session next February. All District 19 constituents want and need the strongest possible advocate in the Capitol throughout the remainder of this term. Republican constituents also want and need the best incumbent possible in order to stave off what is sure to be a stiff challenge next November as Democrats attempt to wrest this seat from two decades of Republican control.
