Notice: This event has been postponed and will be rescheduled at a later date
This event is specifically designed for Republicans that have a nagging 'itch' to do something to change local government, but are not sure how or if they can.
We will focus on 3 areas.
1. Why it is vital to get good qualified conservative individuals in local government office. The difference between 'policy boards' and the rest and why that is significant if you really want to see change happen.
2. A good explanation of what kinds of work, decisions and influence that folks elected to these positions actually have. Most folks step up to fill a need or a void that exists, rarely however do they know what the position they have signed up for actually does.
3. A basic understanding of what it takes to run for one of these positions.
Emphasis has been spent in the past on #3 more so than the rest when actually it deserves the least focus, especially when our goal is to find and recruit the right folks for the job. You will hear from a panel of local elected officials. School Board members, City Councilors, Fire Board Members etc. Some from larger communities and some from smaller ones. These folks will give you a realistic perspective to walk away with that will help you make an informed decision whether running for a local board or commission is right for you.
The event is Free and lunch will be provided. Space is limited and registration is required to attend.
We are extremely grateful to Representative Greg Barreto’s office for sponsoring this event.
