On Tuesday, 8 March, U.S. Representative Elise Stefanik (R-NY), through her Elevate PAC, endorsed Lori Chavez-DeRemer. Ms. Chavez-DeRemer is in a heated contest for the Republican nomination to be the one to send U.S. Rep. Kurt Schrader into retirement.
"I am incredibly honored to be endorsed by such a powerful national conservative figure like Congresswoman Elise Stefanik," Ms. Chavez-DeRemer said. "Congresswoman Stefanik has been a fighter in Congress against Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi’s reckless agenda. She is a role model for all strong conservative women who are pushing back against the Left and I am grateful to have her in my corner."
Rep. Stefanik also heads the (U.S) House Republican Conference, succeeding former Oregon U.S. Rep. Greg Walden upon his retirement in 2020. She founded the Elevate PAC (E-PAC) to act as a counter to PACs like Emily's List that focus on funding left-leaning/radical female candidates. Its goal is to elect more Republican women to Congress. "The growing number of Republican women in Congress will be the majority makers in 2022," says the web site, noting that more than 170 Republican women have filed to run for Congress this year.
"I’m excited to endorse proven conservative results-getter Lori Chavez DeRemer for Congress," said Rep. Stefanik as she announced the endorsement move. "As the first female and first Latina elected as mayor of Happy Valley she led Oregon's fastest-growing community and delivered real results to small businesses and families. I know Lori will fight tirelessly for Oregon families, and I look forward to working with Lori to Save America!" she exclaimed. If Ms. Chavez-DeRemer wins the nomination in May and the election in November, she will be the first Republican woman to represent the district and the first Oregon Latina to serve in Congress.
