Appointed to complete the term of Rep. Fred Girod when he moved to the Senate in February 2008, Rep. Sprenger won election that November to her first full term. In their endorsement of her 2010 re-election, the editorial staff of the Statesman-Journal described her as one who epitomizes the concept of the citizen-legislator. She is passionate about her district and even as a member of the minority caucus during the last session, she ably represented the people of the largely rural district (the largest city is Lebanon) by constantly reminding her urban counterparts how legislation would affect residents of rural Oregon.

Throughout the 2009 session Rep. Sprenger sat on the House Revenue and Education committees; she was Vice-Chair of Education.

For the 2011 session, Rep. Sprenger will sit on the Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee. She will also serve as Co-Vice-Chair of the Education Committee's Subcommittee on Higher Education and Co-Chair of the Joint Ways and Means' Subcommittee on Education.
