What do John Lee, Art Robinson, James Buchal, Suzanne Gallagher, Bill Currier, Chris Baretto & Wendy Frome have in common? They all spoke at the Central Committee meeting on January 15th, Tuesday seeking election to ORP leadership positions.
James Buchal, seeking to be ORP Vice-Chair, was the funniest; he is quite a character. He reminds me of Benny Hill; he kind of looks like him too. He is a legal chainsaw to the opposition.
Art Robinson, seeking to be ORP Chair, made a clear call, PCP Coordination is the key. Each PCP needs to develop a relationship with 300 neighbors developing trust through making contacts with these neighbors once every 3 months, so that they can trust us when we deliver election materials to them.
John Lee, Clackamas Co. Republican Chair recognized that he would raise his own money to support him as he would advance the ORP as Chair.
Suzanne Gallagher, the third candidate for ORP Chair, focused on voter registration and voter integrity. She, like Art, has the experience of running for an elected position and losing. As do I. We are doing everything we can to prepare us for our next run. Do I run against Betty Komp, Peter Courtney or maybe for County Commissioner? What part will you play?
Chris Baretto, a homeschool mom with 8 children ages 9-31 years old, is seeking to be ORP Secretary.
Wendy Frome, a last-minute entry seeking to be ORP Secretary, focused on Integrity, Honor & Fairness.
Bill Currier, Benton Co. Republican Chair, is seeking to be ORP Vice-Chair. He showed that by his experience working for the City of Adair Village & helping lead their 400 volunteers, he has the best qualifications to actually lead the volunteers that make up the ORP.
Recognizing they are all good salesmen, the next step is to respond to this post by making comments so we can further explore each so the best leaders will be selected. We need these four to continue on our team.
Remember, the legislature is gearing up for February. Watch my videos on my channel Floraspec for the House opener last Monday, 1-14-2013 on www.YouTube.com
Let me know what I can report on, my window of opportunity will be 3-5pm, after my regular work hours.
I love Suzanne, but...
We have all seen Suzanne's positive, high-energy attitude on display as a candidate and during her recent speech. She's a great lady and has an important place in our party. But as I heard her speak I couldn't help shake the impression that she may be in over her head.
While I agree with her on values, as I do with many other Republicans, the work we need to do as a party requires specifics. I didn't hear any realistic plan from her, just a bunch of goals. I am actually kind of panicked, as much as I like her, that she might actually become chair.
