On 17 February 2005, the Regular legislative session one month underway, Chief Justice Wallace Carson administered the oath to newly-appointed Rep. Kevin Cameron. When Rep. Dan Doyle had to resign on the eve of the session, leaving the residents of Dist. 19 without a representative, the members of the Marion County Republican Central Committee from the district quickly set about to find the best replacement. Kevin Cameron won the hearty endorsement of the committee and was appointed by the Board of Commissioners. He easily won election in 2006 and re-election in 2008.
Rep. Cameron has earned a stellar reputation for integrity and forthrightness which has led to his selection to be Deputy Republican Leader. In addition to the duties associated with that leadership position, Rep. Cameron sat on the Judiciary Committee and was Vice-Chair of the Business and Labor Committee. Watch this segment of a committee hearing to see what he faced.
For the 2013 session Rep. Cameron returns to the Judiciary Committee, following serving a session as House Republican Leader. He will also serve as Vice-Chair of the Land Use Committee, joined by fellow Marion County Republican Rep. Kim Thatcher, and sit on the Transportation and Economic Development Committee.
