Our Special GuestReverand Wayne Perryman is a widely-acclaimed speaker and researcher, having inspired, defended, and guided people through troubled waters for many years. An author, publisher, coach, talk-show host, and consultant, he has served thousands in his community in Seattle, WA. In addition to his ministry at Mt. Calvary Christian Center Church of God in Christ, located in Seattle's inner city, he heads up his own consulting firm. The firm specializes in conducting fact-finding investigations on behalf of inner city plaintiffs who have been unable to obtain representation through law firms or community agencies. During the past 25 years, he has settled over 90% of their discrimination cases. In 1989 Rev. Perryman brought together gang leaders from two rival gangs, along with Washington State's most powerful black leaders and politicians to negotiate a truce. That meeting led to the formation of Role Models Unlimited. Other major cities across the nation have expressed an interest in the program. Other programs for which he is noted include Operation Destitution, which focuses on feeding the poor, and special projects to help inner-city youth. His most important book was The 1993 Trial on the Curse of Ham in which he dispelled as myth the belief that the Bible taught that the black race was cursed by God. This curse myth had been used for over 300 years to justify enslavement of blacks in Europe and the Americas, Jim Crow laws in the post-Civil War South, and other attempts to separate the races in contemporary times. Through his book, he convinced two major Christian publishers and, more importantly, the Encyclopedia Britannica to remove this false theology from their publications. As a kind of companion publication, his book, Thought-provoking Bible Studies of the '90s, highlighted the significant role that blacks played in Bible history. A series of character-building children's storybooks featuring baseball stars Ken Griffey, Jr. and Harold Reynolds were the the first such books to be placed in the National Baseball Hall of Fame Library. You certainly do not want to miss this event. Tickets are $20/person if reserved in advance, $22.50/person at the door. Reserve your seat(s) securely online or mail your payment to: |
